Application Scientist

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am interested in the Applications Scientist position you are advertising. I believe that I am strongly qualified for this position, and know that I would perform expertly in this role. I have very strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and over 11 years of experience in varied molecular biological techniques, as well as a strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new systems and methodologies.

I worked for three years during my last postdoc as a cell biologist in a lab specializing in advanced polymer research. There, I worked alongside scientists that create biocompatible polymers with unique properties. Much of my work involved designing a FACS method to isolate mesenchymal stem cells from multiple skeletal tissues to be seeded into polymer scaffolds used to treat bone and cartilage injuries. The work I have done has required many long and detailed conversations with applications scientists and field technicians, and I have learned much from them. I also have years of experience building and repairing electronic devices as a hobby. These experiences have given me the tools to quickly master the skills needed to troubleshoot and repair complex laboratory equipment and become a capable field applications specialist with Company.

This position is of great interest to me because troubleshooting tough technical problems is one of my strongest skills. Interacting with customers (current or potential) and selling products is one of my favorite skills. I am very motivated to quickly gain the technical expertise needed to excel.

If you believe my education level is too high for this position, be assured that I will perform this job to the best of my ability and look for upward advancement only after demonstrating my abilities for a suitable time judged by you, so please consider me. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
