My vision of the Human Resources function is to provide support to businesses to make their teams stronger, more effective, and deliver higher results. I see it as the role of a Human Resources team to implement tools like performance management, succession planning, recruiting programs, and effective employee relations so a business can develop its employees and teams. The importance of Human Resources does not stop at developing programs; the value of the function is developing, implementing, and executing these programs.

As a Sr. Human Resources Manager I am currently responsible for managing a team of six HR professionals who support US and Canadian operations with daily needs such as recruiting, new hire orientation and on-boarding, employee and labor relations issues, performance management, disciplinary actions, benefits, compensation management and special projects. We jointly manage labor relations with our counterparts in Operations and Safety so we administer the bargaining agreement effectively in a pro-active approach to everyday business management.

In the last eighteen months of my assignment with Harsco Infrastructure I have successfully developed the HR Team into a well rounded group of professionals who are partnered with key functional disciplines such as Finance, Operations, Engineering, etc. The team is composed of two senior-level generalists, two junior generalists, and two administrators. The team has successfully implemented key corporate initiatives such as new Global Compensation Structure, Annual Incentive Plan for management level employees, auto reimbursement plan (versus a legacy entitlement program), and improved approach to Performance Management.
