Hospital Associate Administrator

Dear Human Resources:

This letter is to express my interest in discussing the Director Radiology position. The opportunity presented in is very appealing, and I believe that my experience and education will make me a competitive candidate for this position. Although I have not been in a hospital director position for five years, I have continued to stay current with JACHO and Health Department regulations as many of them apply to imaging centers.
Some of my key strengths that I possess for success in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Skilled in P&L, general management, operation improvement, turnarounds, multisite operations, multiple hospital departments, business development and strategic planning. · Operation experience of the ancillary and support departments which include program development, financial performance, human resource management, quality improvement and maintenance of productivity and quality performance indicators. · Experience with start-up private medical group. · Extensive experience in the healthcare field regulatory agencies (JCHO Department of Health) with CPT, ICD-9 coding and billing. · Project management experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archive Communication (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), de-install/reinstall equipments, medical operations space designs and other projects.

This cover letter is structured well, but could use improvement:
State that you are applying for the job rather than discussing it. Stating that the job is appealing is unnecessary…if it wasn't, you wouldn't be writing.
Avoid negative phrasing. Instead of "Although I have not been in a hospital director position for five years, I have continued…" say In the past, I have held the position of hospital director, and have continued…"
Finally, a closing statement is needed. Something along the lines of "I am looking forward to discussing the position and my qualifications with you."

Good luck
