General Dentist

Dear Sir/Mam:

Let me introduce myself as an ambitious former military dentist with excellent clinical, interpersonal, and leadership skills who is eager to secure a position with a thriving civilian practice. On Aug 23rd, 2010 I completed a four year obligation with the United States Army Dental Corp after receiving a military scholarship for attending the NYU College of Dentistry. For the last 7 months I have worked under a provisional license in my home town of Fayetteville, NC.
During my first year in the Army I took part in a rigorous and intense one year AEGD focused on diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical efficiency. Eight residents were trained by 10 mentors. The program’s didactic schedule included two 3 hour treatment planning boards attended by specialists from all fields, a one hour lecture attended by all employees of the Ft. Benning Dental Activity, multiple case presentations and literature reviews, weekly clinically based lectures, and guest speakers. Clinical schedule included one full month Oral Surgery rotation supervised by board certified OMF surgeons. Daily rotations in Prosthodontics and Endodontics supervised by passionate specialists in both fields. Additional rotations in Comprehensive Care with subsequent chart reviews. This invaluable program has made me highly proficient to handle various procedures with speed and precision, including multiple aspects of prosthodontics and rotary instrumentation in endodontics. Received Army Achievement Medal upon completion. The last three years have been spent at Camp Zama, Japan, serving the soldiers, retirees, all dependents, and civilians assigned to the area. Camp Zama’s dental clinic is the most productive dental activity in the entire United States Army. The clinic is a dynamic group practice with two general dentists, a prosthodontist, periodontist, and an orthodontist. My time in Camp Zama has only added to my education. With multiple specialists in one building, a daily flow of treatment discussion has accelerated my professional development. In addition to treating patients I served as the HAZCOM Officer, Radiation Program Officer, Forensic Dental Officer, Dental Fitness Officer, and Library Officer. Also received a recognition coin from the two star commanding general for excellence in physical fitness.
