you should try something such as the following letter:

Dear Sir or Madam:

Many businesses today are struggling with the difficult issues of stagnant growth, greater competitive pressures, critical supply shortages, and escalating raw material costs. It remains a challenging time when all manufacturers must search for new cost effective and innovative ways to manage their Supply Chains. Such an effort may provide the competitive edge needed to increase profitability and spur corporate growth. Therefore, my background in the field of Procurement would be very valuable to your organization.

My experience covers over 15 years in strategic Procurement of chemical raw materials, packaging components, and sub-contractor manufacturing. I have demonstrated a successful record of achievement in total cost management and supply assurance in such areas as: contractual negotiations, global sourcing, inventory management, value analysis, and the creation of competitive situations.

• During the three-year period of 2007 through 2009, these efforts resulted in material cost savings of over $3,000,000.00.

My education includes a Bachelor degree in Chemistry with various MBA courses completed in both Economics and Management. I seek to meet today’s challenges with a progressive organization. To accomplish this I am striving for a career opportunity where I may be able to use my abilities in a meaningful and productive manner. I hope to associate myself with an organization of highly motivated individuals who are bound together by a sense of team spirit and cooperation. My experience leads me to believe that yours may be such an organization.

I will welcome the chance to meet with you at your earliest convenience to discuss the details of this opportunity. Please review my enclosed resume for further information regarding my qualifications for this position. Your time and consideration will be sincerely appreciated.

Very truly yours,
