Director/VP Supply Chain Procurement

My innovative, practical solutions have returned millions of dollars to reputable corporations such as Marconi/FORE Systems, GTE, PPG and C. Brewer.

I am a Supply Chain/ Engineering Program Manager with extensive expertise in leading/directing cross functional teams. My customer and supplier relationship management is successful because it is focused, built on measurements (facts and data), as well as trust, timely feedback, and clear communications. Effective -as an individual contributor- in increasing profitability by managing costs, tracking progress, following through on commitments, contractual closure and negotiated results. I’ve held increasingly responsible Supply Chain Operations positions in New Product Development Program Management/Procurement at Marconi Communications Inc. (formerly FORE Systems). As Senior Supply Chain Program Manager at Marconi, I was materials lead of the Senior Management team responsible for launching ViPr, from concept to production. ViPr, Visual Presence, is a significant new videoconferencing system /product family for government and commercial applications in anti terrorism and homeland security. I owned the deliverables, managed the supplier relationships and the transition to production from NPD at the contract manufacturer.
At GTE, I directly managed commodity managers, certified purchasing managers, the vendor administrator, attorney, and contract administrator and procurement for 24 major department heads and technical managers. We executed 35,000 purchase orders annually worth over $400 Million using electronic data interchange (EDI).GTE Hawaiian Tel’s President and Vice President-Legal in separate meetings with local vendors and professionals (ISM – Hawaii Chapter) publicly acknowledged the excellent achievements and progress of the Purchasing Management Team under my leadership in the areas of Vendor Management and Contracts. While leading GTE Hawaiian Tel’s procurement interests on GTE’s National Sourcing Teams, we saved GTE more than $150 million. My department’s participation in strategic planning, negotiations, and incorporating uniquely Hawaii issues into the contractual terms and conditions contributed to the company’s bottom line. Savings were validated by the business units and incorporated into upcoming budget planning.
An Engineering program I led, earned PPG $65MM. It was adapted into the automotive and appliance industries worldwide. Our team developed and commercialized PPG’s new technology of cationic electrodeposition (superior corrosion protection) in synergy with ultrafiltration (chemical balance maintenance, part rinse, drag-out recovery, and pollution abatement). PPG funded my business certification at Sloan School of Management (MIT).
