Duties included: Management of month-end and annual financial closing processes, including complete review of account reconciliations and other accounting entries as needed. Proper application of accounting policies and practices, provide support for technical accounting issues as they arise, which included detailed research and documentation of conclusions, and in-depth analysis of budget to ensure performance is closely monitored, perform budget versus actual analysis for management and Finance Committee on a monthly basis.

Key relationships with external parties, which included external auditors or other consultants, as needed. Serve as one of the key contacts during the consolidated financial statement audit, responsible for the identification and adherence to internal policies and accounting practices that are critical to preparation of the corporate tax return.

As management, my duty was to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and all applicable laws. Responsibilities including: interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

A large part of the duties was to oversee the activities of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Departments, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor payments, purchase orders, employee expense reports, cash applications and cash control, oversee the Human Resources and Payroll departments for accurate processing of Payroll and following the California Labor Law standards governing these departments.

Through my implementation of process improvement of internal accounting activities my major accomplishments were; upgrading the financial packets to include all aspects of the business, projects, committee expenditures, reorganize the accounting office, invest time and efforts so the Club was able to recoup over $150,000 with past due accounts, work with department managers to keep spending to a minimal and offer suggestions as to how to improve revenue.

My resume highlights my ability, knowledge and expertise in Finance but along with my past positions I have developed and used my Administrative abilities with staff and members which are illustrated within my resume.

I am confident that I would be a great addition to your team and excited about the prospect of the Controller position you’re listing. I’d like to meet with you to illustrate how my abilities and experience can help us partner in respects to future employment.
